Aim
Our project will deliver nutritious meals to vulnerable elderly residents in Tower Hamlets and help an independent business survive!
As a small business in the events and hospitality sector, I have been significantly affected by the economic effects of COVID-19. I’m seeking help to continue trading and to fund a community food project serving Aldgate’s diverse communities in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, working with social landlord EastendHomes along with some wonderful local volunteers.
"Losing all my events work at the beginning of the first lockdown meant I had to pivot to an online service or risk losing everything. Having previously ran community food events for EastEndHomes I got in touch to see how we could work together and get some meals to those in need - by supporting my business you will in return be supporting others too"
Working together with EastendHomes we have set up Food for Aldgate, a food bank and kitchen. We now seek funding to continue to deliver nutritious, chef cooked meals for vulnerable, elderly residents during these challenging times. Delivering food parcels and meals has been a lifeline contact for the elderly and isolated during the lockdown. With your support we will continue to bring good food and kindness to those in need of support during these cold winter months.
Paul Wilson who works as a Community Engagement Manager for EastendHomes says "Our response to COVID is to be kind. Kind through food. Alongside supporting low income households with regular food parcels to help them get by, we also want to continue delivering nutritious and delicious meals - cooked by a super Chef - to isolated pensioners, to let them know they are not alone, in these anxious times."
The response to Food for Aldgate has been overwhelmingly positive, since we opened in December. We are now crowdfunding to pay for 500 delicious meals to be delivered to those needing support,
By releasing the match funding we will be able to provide many more meals than we otherwise could, whilst helping to keep a small business afloat, employing out of work chefs, underpinned with a social responsibility.
