As One is a youth project founded by Danielle McKenzie, located in Greenwich, South East London. The project's main aims are to create an alternative structure for young people and a sense of unity amongst the young people in our community. We endeavour to foster an ethos of family that runs through the heart of all that we do. We work with young people to enable them to find the best version of themselves through numerous workshops and targeted interventions.
While all the work that we do is important, we believe listening to our young people and giving them a space that they truly desire should always be at the forefront. Young people asked us to create a safe space; a space where they can chill and be themselves... so that is what we are doing.
We have a great team of youth workers engaging with 14-17 year olds on a weekly basis. We currently see around 50-70 young people attending our club weekly. We want to ensure this engagement continues by being able to CONTINUE to provide food and football weekly - but also introduce more fun things based on suggestions from our young people.
Our weekly football sessions help keep young people engaged in positive activities and our food/cooking programme ensures that all our young people get to eat a hot meal on Tuesday and Friday evening's after school. We don't just cook for the young people but engage them with cooking simple, nutritious and affordable meals. We have had some fun sessions at the youth club such as hair styling and a trip to go karting. We currently don't have any funding to pay for this so are asking our community to rally together to keep the goodness going...
