Follow That Star - A Nativity Pantomime

Aim

We aim to bring the story of Jesus's birth to life on the stage in a way that will be fun and entertaining as well as educational.

Follow That Star! is an original Nativity panto coming to Chorlton Methodist Church this Christmas. Eight performances between 27 December and 2 January. Comedy guards, thoroughly confused wise men, a wicked king with strong opinions about curtains, and Mary's theologically questionable mother-in-law.

We wrote it because we kept noticing the same thing at church. Every year, before we could rehearse a nativity play with the children, we first had to teach them the story. Most of them had never heard it. So we spent a year writing a full length panto to fix that, and four Manchester churches came on board to help us stage it.

We are a brand new Community Interest Company. We have a script, a venue, four partner churches and a cast. What we do not have is a back catalogue of profits to build a set with. Timber, costume fabric, lighting hire, licensing and printing all have to be paid for months before the first ticket is sold.

Fund raising is just beginning now and rehearsals will begin in September.
