This year Folkestone will see the second Folkestone Living Advent Calendar - and it's going to be even bigger and better than last year. There'll be music, puppetry, theatre, storytelling, dance, opera and much more! We are commissioning local, young theatre companies to create new work for the Calendar as well as including established performers, artists and musicians! We are working with a number of community groups to create performances for the venues including KRAN (Kent Refugee Action Network), The Rainbow Centre – and its Winter Shelter, The Déjà-Vu Memory Cafe (for people with memory problems) and ARRCC.
This project is all about goodwill and a feeling of community at Christmas time. The Folkestone Living Advent Calendar gives the community the opportunity to come together whether as audience members, volunteers or performers. All the workshops and the performances are free to attend and each night we collect for a local charity.
But now we need YOUR help!!
We have been lucky this year to receive funding from the Roger De Haan Charitable Trust, The Arts Council and Folkestone Town Council but we are still a little short on our target!
