To help deliver a new singles padel court as part of a major club redevelopment, opening up modern sport to our local community.
Formby Lawn Tennis Club is a long-established, community-focused sports club based in the heart of Formby. We are run by volunteers, rooted in the local area, and proud to be a place where people of all ages and abilities feel welcome.
While tennis is our heritage, our purpose is broader than one sport. We exist to help people stay active, connected and confident through sport, whether they are complete beginners, returning after time away, or lifelong players.
Over the past few years, we have invested heavily in modernising our facilities so that the club continues to serve the community for decades to come. The addition of padel has been a huge part of that journey, bringing new faces, new energy and new ways for people to get active together.
We are a non-profit club. Every pound we raise is reinvested back into facilities, coaching and access for the community.

We are crowdfunding to help build a new singles padel court, designed to make sport more accessible, inclusive and sustainable for a wider range of people in our community.
Padel is one of the fastest-growing sports in the UK because it is social, intuitive and far less intimidating than many traditional sports. A singles padel court takes this one step further.
For many people, a full doubles court or high-intensity sport can feel like too much. A singles padel court offers:
We regularly see people who want to be active but feel excluded by pace, fitness expectations or fear of injury. This project directly addresses that gap.
The £7,500 we aim to raise will unlock Sport England match funding, doubling the impact and allowing us to deliver a facility that genuinely removes barriers to participation.
This project also sits within a much wider commitment. In 2026, the club is investing over £200,000 into a full rebuild of our courts and facilities, following on from last year’s padel development.

All funds raised through this Crowdfunder, alongside Sport England match funding, will be used specifically towards the purchase and installation of a new singles padel court.
This includes:
We are committed to transparency and responsible spending. This is a clearly defined project with a clear outcome, delivering a permanent, community-focused facility that will be used year-round.

This project is about more than a court. It is about who feels able to take part in sport.
By creating a singles padel court, we are:
We want local people to see this as their facility. Somewhere they can turn up, feel comfortable, and enjoy being active at their own pace.
With your support, we can build something that genuinely changes how people experience sport in Formby.

This project only works if the community gets behind it. There are a few simple ways you can help turn this idea into a real, lasting facility for Formby.
1. Make a pledge
Every contribution matters, whatever the size. Early support is especially powerful, it builds momentum, shows belief in the project, and helps unlock matched funding from Sport England. If you’re thinking of backing us, now really is the moment.
2. Share the story
If you believe in inclusive, accessible sport, help us spread the word. Share this page with friends, family, local groups and neighbours. A quick post or message can reach someone who would love this facility but does not yet know it’s possible.
3. Support us as a local business
If you run a local business, you can get involved by donating a reward or experience we can offer to supporters. It’s a great way to back a community project, support healthy living locally, and get a shout-out along the way.
4. Fundraise alongside us
Want to go one step further? You can run your own fundraiser in support of the project, a sponsored activity, a challenge, or something completely different. It’s quick to set up, no bank details needed, and we’ll support you all the way. Just use the “contact project” button to let us know.
