Over the past 7 years, Shambala’s ‘Flags For…’ campaigns have raised over £40,000 for incredible causes.

This year, we’re raising funds for The Flying Seagull Project - an incredible charity made up of clowns, musicians and play-makers, who bring play and entertainment to children in the harshest environments around the world, from refugee camps to asylum shelters, hostels, care facilities and deprived community spaces.

Growing up without positive experiences, playful learning and happy memories causes enormous childhood suffering and can leave lifelong scars. But we believe that children everywhere, especially those experiencing hardship, should still be able to feel special and valued, with happy memories of play and laughter.

For every donation received, Shambala will fly a string of prayer flags on The Shambala Stage. This will create a striking and beautiful symbol of our support and prayers for the millions of children around the world, whose childhoods are being lost due to poverty, loneliness, conflict or forced displacement.

If you donate £5 or more before midnight on the 11th August 2023, you’ll be entered into a prize draw to win THE LAST TWO GENERAL ENTRY ADULT TICKETS TICKETS to Shambala 2023! We’ll contact the winner by email on 15th August 2023.

100% of your sponsorship money will go directly to The Flying Seagull Project.

Shambala Festival will cover all the costs of buying, transporting and flying the flags – as well as donating £1,000 to the campaign.

THE FLYING SEAGULL PROJECT: IMPACTS

The Flying Seagull Project’s sessions are shown to improve wellbeing, sense of community, pride, skills, confidence and communication.

Since 2008, they’ve met over 320,000 children and young people from refugee camps in the Middle East, to community centres in Manchester.

They have delivered 6,684 play sessions across 24 countries sharing smiles with 320,316 children.

Check the testimonials below, to discover the difference these sessions make, for children around the world:

“The children have absolutely loved every second of the Flying Seagull Project’s visit, from group games and free play circus skills to magic shows, crafting and spontaneous dance sessions! So much so, that children would wait by the entrance of the camp for the Seagulls to return each day! The children have all formed such happy memories over the last two weeks and positive memories are so incredibly important for refugee children. It is literally like shining a bright light into a very dark period of their lives. I’m sure these memories will last a lifetime.” -  Sadie, Harmanli Refugee Camp, Bulgaria

“We were blown away by the session provided by the Flying Seagulls for the children at the hotel. Both members of the team facilitated and led an excellent play session for the children, full of joy. For an hour and a half, all of the children were fully engaged in the session - hard to do with a wide range of ages and languages spoken. However, what was clear throughout, was the power of play and its universality. Very quickly children understood the rules of the games and were helping each other to understand as well. The play gave children the opportunity to develop their communication and counting skills, as well as develop turn taking and sharing skills. However, most importantly, the children had pure fun and it was incredibly joyful to watch. Thank you so much.” - Early Education Lead, Reach Foundation

Dig deep, Shambala - every donation makes a huge difference! x
