The Prize

“Five Guys” is an original, framed and mounted artwork depicting the recent heroic exploits of some famous local rugby players.

Max Norey, Ben Coen, Sam Simmonds, Joe Simmonds MBE and Tom Cairns have kindly signed this original work to help raise funds for the two charities. 100% of your contribution (after transaction costs only) will go to the two charities, split equally.

The painting is 800mm x 290mm and is professionally mounted and framed and protected behind UV art glass to ensure a lifetime’s quality without fading.

The artwork is a montage of the "Five Guys" in the strip of the team at which they have played their highest level of rugby to date. All are in action, ball in hand making a dynamic image. The cherry and black background is the colours of Teignmouth RFC, and a banner narrative runs along the bottom of the picture "To a man did their journeys embark, on the hallowed grounds of Bitton Park". This points to the home venue of Teignmouth RFC and links them despite their playing in different teams at different times over the last decade.

The Cause

The idea was the brainchild of James Mayne, the current Captain of Teignmouth Golf Club, who wished to recognise the achievements of the Five Guys and their close links to the town and its sporting clubs.

Andrew approached James and offered to create a piece of artwork that James could offer as a prize, with all proceeds going 50/50 to the chosen charities for Teignmouth Golf Club this year.

Hence the concept was born and the painting produced.

Through his own close links to the rugby community, James was able to engage Max, Ben, Sam, Joe and Tom who kindly obliged his request to sign the original work prior to it being framed

The benefactors of your entry will be Devon Air Ambulance and Children’s Hospice South West. These two charities are the recipient charities for Teignmouth Golf Club this year, being chosen by the mens and ladies Captains this year.

Devon Air Ambulance provides critical care to those in urgent need by land and air across Devon and beyond.

Children's Hospice South West provides palliative, respite, end of life and bereavement care for life limited and terminally ill children and their families in the South West of England.
