Aim

The aim of this project is to raise enough money to put up a few bright and decorative murals around the twin towns of Fishguard & Goodwick.

Having been born and raised in Fishguard, I have seen the town's highs and lows. Fishguard and Goodwick has a lot of potential with the tourism trade growing every year and the popular events such as the Music Festivals, The New Years Eve Street Party, The Carnival, The Soapbox Derby and many more helping attract even more visitors. Over the next few years, I am hoping to run a few projects to help the growth of the town and make it one of Pembrokeshire's main destinations to visit. The first project is to help brighten up the town and showcase its culture and history in the form of murals. The two town's are full of interesting but lesser - known history and I feel this needs to be highlighted. The murals will unfortunately need to be fully funded via Crowdfunder, after a grant application was turned down. The designs were originally planned to be created digitally and then professionally mounted on aluminium composite. However, I have now found a local artist who can do it at a more cost effective price.

The aim of the project is to create murals showcasing the following;

  • Promoting The Town's History Of Boats
  • Promoting Lower Town
  • Welcoming Visitors
  • Promoting Strumble Head & Nature
  • Promoting The Local Sport Athletes
  • Promoting Denys Corbett Wilson
  • Promoting The French Invasion & Jemima
  • Promoting Goodwick
  • Promoting Fishing & Sealife
  • Promoting Local Music
  • Promoting Food & Culture
  • Promoting New Year's Eve (Best NYE Event In Wales)

Each design will be painted professionally on buildings around the area. Having spoken to a few business owners around the town, this project has received a lot of positive feedback.

Each mural will cost around £300 to design and be professionally painted.

This project successfully funded on 6th August 2021
