Find Magic Within - The Fairy Who Sings Book

Aim

The aim of this project is to raise the much needed funds, for the first print run of my debut children’s picture book: The Fairy who Sings.

Who Am I? What do I want to achieve?

Hello, my name is Cheryl and I am the author of 'The Fairy who Sings'.  I consider myself very lucky to be a mother to 3 amazing daughters and I am passionate about educating them and others about empowerment, self-belief and emotional intelligence.

I have spent the last 18 years supporting children who have witnessed or experienced some of the worst, horrific crimes. Through the direct 1:1 work with the children and young people who I have supported, I have seen the joy and hope that books can bring, even in the most awful of circumstances. 

Books can be an escape, and they can also give hope and encouragement around so many different topics. They also have the power to reach many children, unlike my previous 1:1 work. 

I decided to combine my love for supporting children with my love for writing and I decided to begin my journey, publishing my own children's picture book series. My first series is entitled 'Finding the Magic'.  The series aims to empower readers through the use of many different courageous and determined characters, who also over-come many different barriers and obstacles.  It is important to me though, that the books will still be full of fun and imagination. The magic that always needs to remain present in any child's story book.

Find Magic Within

I named my business 'Find Magic Within' to describe the magic to be found within books, but also to represent the journey of finding the true magic of one's self.  My hope is that my books can empower children to find their own magic within themselves.

The Fairy who Sings

'The Fairy who Sings' is my debut children’s picture book. It is fully written in rhyme. It is an inclusive story about a young fairy who was born with only one wing, and unable to fly. The story follows the main character, Briony Rose and it aims to help encourage children to appreciate what they have and to focus on what they are able to achieve rather than what they cannot.  I am hopeful that this book will also enable conversations to be raised by teachers, parents, carers or professionals with children about differences and how we are not all the same. Sending a valuable inclusive message to all.  The book also sends out a clear message about kindness and can also be used to address issues of bullying.

The book is primarily aimed at children between the ages of 4-8 but may also be enjoyed by younger and older readers alike.  Readers of this book can also find a little extra magic within the book, as there are also hidden magical objects to be found.  

The illustrations are breathtakingly beautiful with colours that pop off the page. I can’t wait to share this book and subsequent books in the series with you all.

How Can You Help?

You can help immensely by choosing a reward from the many options and backing my crowdfunding campaign by making a pledge of support. I am not asking for money for nothing. I am offering you an opportunity to pre-order my products and services. You can pledge your support in return for a physical reward and the money will only be taken from your account if my crowdfunding campaign is successful. That means if I do not reach my target then you will not be charged at all. What Will the Money be Used For?

Any money raised from this project will go towards the very first print run of The Fairy who Sings, which is the first book in the Finding the Magic series. Some of the money raised will also be used to mail rewards to people. The book is currently being illustrated by the very talented Eduardo Paj and it is being helped to be brought to life by a great team at Bear With Us Productions.  It is extremely close to being finished so I do not expect any delays to you receiving your books in time for Easter. If I am lucky enough to reach my target any additional funds raised will go towards editing, illustration and promotional materials for my next book in the series.

Why do I Need to Fund Printing Costs?  

This book could be printed on demand, but I believe this book deserves to be printed in the highest quality possible, and I would also love to see this book take pride of place on bookshelves of retailers across the country. This would not be possible through print on demand publishing.
