There is no other service quite like us in our area.  Imagine finding yourself homeless, sofa surfing or vulnerable, having nowhere to go, no food to eat, nowhere to wash and no one to talk to. You go to the local council for help and they signpost you to Sutton Night Watch Homeless Charity.  You knock on the door and you are greeted with a warm welcome, hot nutritional food and somewhere you can have a shower, change and wash your clothes and somewhere to store your belongings.   When you finish all of that and start to feel like a human being again, somebody will sit with you and find out what is actually going on.

We are currently working with many services within our community and have our very own counselling agency.  We provide meditation classes . We also provide a person-centred approach working directly with agencies so we can deliver a first class service to our clients.  1698937731_meditation.jpg

Everybody is different and no two people or stories are the same.  We establish what is needed for the client and create a care plan and assign them with a peer mentor who can work with them on a one to one basis.

Our financial wellbeing workshops will help our service users

  • Create and balance a household budget
  • Learn how to structure their finances
  • Find ways to save money and get the most out of their spare cash, if any.
  • Learn how to use credit wisely and cope with unmanageable debt

“We can’t promise to fix everything, but what we can do is equip you with tools and ideas to help you get to grips with your money in the way that’s right for you. Which in turn will give you peace of mind”

Meet Kieran:

Kieran was a service user at our old soup kitchen.  When we opened full time, he came more frequently and expressed that he needed more support.  He lost his wife to cancer some years before and had become addicted to drugs. The first thing we did was look at his accommodation.  He was staying in a shed at the back of someone’s house as he didn’t want to go back to his flat for fear of using.  We worked with Sutton council and placed him in a private flat in Sutton.   We immediately made a referral to a rehab called Clouds in Wiltshire.  We applied for a charity bursary. He was accepted and went into the rehab for 6 weeks. He didn’t like the 12-step programme of Alcoholics Anonymous but preferred Narcotics Anonymous instead.  Grief was a big part of Kieran’s using so when he left rehab, we enrolled him in for counselling at our centre.  Kieran is continuing his journey of recovery.  He loves to go out cycling and really enjoyed doing one of our Financial Wellbeing workshops.  He learned how to set goals, create his own budget effectively and overcome debts and overspending.  He said "It was real eye opener to see what I was spending and learn how to manage this ,  I have become more aware of prices and always price check items now in the supermarket, I especially love the bottom shelf as its always cheaper, I never knew this, I would recommend this workshop to everyone who is struggling to cope financially, thank you Sutton Night Watch for all your help"
