Project by Chrysalis Youth Empowerment Network
I am now doing the last semester of the final year at the University, and this is to thank all the people that have supported me in this quest, ever since the first announcement that I had decided to study a bachelor’s degree in sports science. “Thank you for your sacrifices.” In a very special way also, I would like to thank and acknowledge the Almighty God, for having brought me this far.
I started this course honestly by faith, as I am not always aware of the financial status of those through which support would come from whenever I put up a University tuition fundraiser. I feel that people have made sacrifices to see me on the brighter side of life and with God I promise to never disappoint.
This course is a three year commitment however for me it has taken longer than that due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic which caused the University to be locked down.
During the long period of the lockdown I worked on two notable projects and these are as below;
One of these projects is that I was able to use my time productively and worked on a book known as the, “ELITE CROSSFITTER” which apparently is being reviewed and will be published very soon to give me a go ahead with my clients as a trainer. Another project I worked on was called, “SAVING MY LOCALITY” this was basically an initiative to do with supplying food items to the people who were starving to death during the lockdown. This initiative was very successful and lives were saved, thus in remembrance of it, “thanks to those who helped.”
Earlier this year the lockdown was fully lifted and as soon as this happened, I resumed the Slum Run. The Slum Run 2022 happened on the 31st of July and I was pleased to see that it was a success. We managed to receive a lot of support locally and the children that participated in it were able to receive half of their school fees and all returned to school on the 5th of September.
I also returned to studying physically at the university and apparently I am doing student final projects work as to get ready for graduation very soon. After my graduation I will be focusing my energies mostly on the Slum Run and the community gym which I will set up to help the locals get fit , and with all the opportunities that are yet to come I feel happy that this will finally get implemented.
It is perfectly intriguing, whenever I reflect on the things I have achieved in my community over the years and nothing would have been possible if there weren’t people who believe in small beginnings.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Francis Ssuuna.
