Film production

Aim

A film production project that will change the way people look at films, and the issues they address.

After positive reactions from members of  different target audiences to the two film scripts I have written, I have decided to start my own film production company. The first film I produce, the premise of which is based on the university experiences of myself and others (synopsis below), is intended to be a micro-budget production, with production costs aimed at around £10,000-£30,000. I plan to market the film pre-release by securing interviews on various platforms and advertising and promoting on our social media outlets. Post-production, I plan to distribute copies of the film to local and foreign distributors.  I have collected a list of reliable studio distributors, who I know are always open to new productions. The world is our customer, with global distribution separated into two divisions: domestic and foreign. Including the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada, more than 65 countries could buy the film. I cannot currently give a specific profit margin but based on the feedback I have received, and the distribution plan, I expect the film to turn a significant profit. As well as studio distributors, I have begun making loose arrangements regarding various opportunities to show the film locally, in buildings we are affiliated with and places within our community that support artists. For example, one showing we intent to arrange will take place at the Theatre Deli, Sheffield. The room we intent to use for the showing has a capacity of approximately 2-300 people. With the interest we have, we expect to bring in about £15,000, charging £7.00 for tickets at 10 showings.  This plan functions both to create capital and market the film, as I am aware that buyers pay a heftier price if the film has a theatrical release before DVD and television. To get buyers interested we will also be creating two trailers, one longer 'Teaser trailer' and one simply advertising the premise, and the quality of the production itself.  

To get the branding and name of the company out I have begun selling T-shirts with the company logo and different designs which have been successful, and we will continue producing merchandise to help produce funding for the productions, and give the films themselves an identity within the company. 

The finished script is entitled Provocation. This film is essentially about the trials and tribulations of young adults after being thrusted into adulthood and experiencing things first and second hand like drugs, homophobia, death, suicide, health issues, low level prostitution, money. The protagonist Natasha Stone gets dropped off at her University accommodation by her parents, then gets acquainted with hers her new housemates. After their first night out during freshers week everything kicks off. She meets a girl that she starts dating, and her girlfriend Jackie has an ongoing health problem that affects their relationship, and this leads to her meeting an older woman who she has an affair with, and receives payment for. This is a very little insight into part of the story of Provocation, and I hope it has captured your attention, trust me when I say this is a film that will blow the minds of the customers. It provokes emotions and opinions, leaving the viewers in deep thought.  The use of protagonist and antagonist roles is intended to mirror the true experience of someone who suddenly finds themselves without the shelter of their childhood home, and whose reaction to what is most likely their first significant conflict is going to be more extreme than that of a more adjusted, older adult. We aim to capture the true experience of the sudden growing up that most people do in university. The inspiration behind this is the university experience of the members of our team and community, and we hope that above all else the film will be relatable and have educational value about the issues it addresses. The reality of many things touched on in the script is warped by the media, increasing the danger of things such as drug use,  and we hope to portray the ugly truth behind the glamour. 

My second film idea is in the process of being finished, the current working titles are APATE which is greek for the spirit of deception, delusion, fraud and guile, or Filth. This film is about a woman in a high position in her company, and a family losing everything due to her mental health. She is a compulsive liar, that begins lying about miniscule things and then her lies get bigger and catch up with her. She ends up on the streets due to an affliction, this leads to her doing unsavoury things to get by. Without giving away too much, I would say it is similar to Trainspotting in terms of the affliction, however, the way in which we will be producing it will be very different. It will not be glamourised by the dismissal of the truth in terms of what said affliction actually does to a persons life. 

The difference between my production and Production Company is that I am new, I have got fresh ideas and new innovative ideas in the way I want to produce my films. I hope my project has caught your attention and given you a reason to believe in me. Thank you
