Who are we?
We are a local community cricket club, who have a very popular junior cricket membership and we provide opportunities for young people to start learning the game.
Why are we crowdfunding?
We are fortunate to play in a wonderful location in North Devon, but our existing clubhouse facilities need upgrading.
The below photos show the current condition of the facilities and some images of what we would like to achieve -
The refurbishment of the clubhouse is critical to the ongoing development of the club and the ability for the club to provide the opportunity for all to play, get active and enjoy their cricket.
We want to be an essential part of the local sport community offering access to cricket to juniors and adults, men and women. We want to be successful in local and Devon leagues, whilst continuing to be a welcoming and family friendly club.
How we’ll spend the money raised
Whilst we are looking for a full refurbishment of the club facilities, we will specifically use the funding raised via crowdfunder in the following places -
- Refurbishment of the clubroom & toilets
- Provision of new kitchen facilities
A plan of the proposed work is provided below -
We have recently combined club funds with ECB grant funding to install solar panels to the roof of the pavilion which now supplies electricity to the club for the first time in its history. The next step is to refurbish and improve the club house facilities and this crowdfunding campaign is important to help the club meet its ambitions to be able to support cricket and sport in the local community.
The overriding aim is to provide a facility that would both attract and retain young people to start learning cricket, be active and provide them with the opportunity to develop, both in their sporting achievement but also valuable life lessons and the feeling of empowerment and achievement that being part of a team can provide to young people.
Community impact
We are proud to be an open and inclusive cricket club, and we believe the refurbishment of the clubhouse will allow us to further enhance what we are able to offer our players, and their friends and family members.
We are very proud that we grow our coaching team from our our own pool of players and volunteers. We have 10 coaches currently, but this number is growing and we encourage our young players to turn into volunteers and support coaches, so they aspire to have coaching and sports careers.
This approach should inspire the next generation of cricketers and coaches and continue to grow the club and its membership.
The upgrade the welfare facilities is important so that parents and spectators are encouraged to continue to attend our sessions and matches and feel proud to recommend us to others. The improved toilet facilities will meet the needs of our older and disabled members.
In summary the money raised will allow us to both improve our current offering and also hopefully enable us to widen our reach and attract more people to be active and play cricket.
