Aim: Our aim is to re-sell/recycle 14,000 school uniforms and maintain over 2,000 bicycles at one of the largest primary schools in west London
Fielding Primary School is located in West London and has over 1,000 attending from a cross section of backgrounds and communities.
Unbelievably, over 14,000 school uniforms will have been purchased during the last five years in just this primary school alone. And up to 2,150 bikes will likely be used to get many children to/from school and other places in their local area. That’s potentially a lot of landfill when items like this grow to be too small or become broken - and we want to change that.
With this crowdfunding project, we aim to build dedicated and co-located Second Hand Uniform and Bike Repair shops that:
Rewards: Make sure you check out the rewards for your pledges. They include vouchers towards Frog Bikes and eBikes - with the aim of encouraging more children to cycle to school - now that active travel has more focus for the mind and body since Covid-19. We also have Fruit Clocks to give away - yes a digital clock that is powered by fruit alone!
The costs will cover laying a concrete base, building of a dual structure to house both clothing shop and bicycle repair shop. It will also include the cost of building shelves, supplying storage boxes along with kitting out the bicycle repair area with the relevant material to get the project up and running. Below is the building we are planning to construct.
The shop will open regularly and will be managed by able and willing volunteers who are already desperate to get this initiative up and running. Below is the type of set up that we are looking to achieve when it comes to the style of shelving and servicing.
Thank you for interest.
