Festival on the Lane

Aim

Aim: to upscale the traditional GQ street party, bringing two stages of entertainment, stalls and other activities to Garden Lane.

We have form hosting street parties, but we've not attempted one on this scale before...

Cambrian Road, Gladstone Road, Granville Road, Old Port Square and Water Tower Gardens have been the site of previous shindigs but now we want to take over Garden Lane for a full afternoon and evening of revelling on Saturday 21st September, 2019.

Even though our last large-scale community gathering was branded the Welcome Weekend and took place across the Garden Quarter, general feedback from previous events is that not everybody thought it was for them. That's why we want to put a festival on the Lane - the epicentre of the Garden Quarter; home to The Bouverie, The Goat & Munch and The Chichester Arms; and, hopefully, somewhere that permanent residents, students and daily visitors alike will feel welcome.

However, as you'll hopefully understand, closing a main thoroughfare, erecting two stages, and attracting artisans and entertainers is a far from free enterprise, even if committee members and numerous other kind-hearted souls are willing to give their time and talent for free. While various funding avenues are being explored, it would help enormously if the crowd could chip in a few pounds or pence to help us make this happen...

Any additional monies will be used for future events or to make resident-endorsed improvements to our area.
