Fertility Care Scotland (FCS) is a Scottish charity established to educate women and couples on their natural fertility.
Teacher. Counselor. Friend. There are many titles our volunteer fertility teachers acquire. This past year they have hosted more Clinics than the previous two years combined, working days and nights in our new free Virtual Clinics to make themselves accessible to clients remotely during Lockdown. At least eight clients successfully achieved pregnancy during lockdown, including some who had previously been diagnosed with sub-fertility. We rely solely on donations to provide our services to everyone for free, and with an unprecedented increase in demand, we need financial support more than ever!
Who is Fertility Care Scotland, and why are they so important?
Fertility Care Scotland (FCS) is a Scottish charity established in 1976 to educate women and couples about the Billings Ovulation Method® of Natural Fertility Regulation. It is a healthy way to plan or postpone pregnancy without recourse to chemical or mechanical methods of family planning. Furthermore, it is simple, effective, and without side effects. After the recent COP26, many of us are motivated to be more eco-friendly. Regulating your fertility naturally protects the planet and offers a safe, eco-friendly alternative to more common methods of contraception.
We are officially the only organisation licensed to teach the Billings Ovulation Method® in Scotland. We offer our services for free to everyone in Scotland, and our clients span from the northernmost Shetland isles to the English borders. Many of our clients have been on long NHS waiting lists for well over a year or cannot afford expensive private fertility clinics. When they discover Fertility Care Scotland, they are extremely appreciative of our valuable teaching.
Our services are vitally important, not just to individuals but to the wider healthcare community. Supporting us will in turn support other local healthcare providers and NHS clinics who are currently overwhelmed with their own very long backlog. Our team of accredited Billings Ovulation Method® teachers will work one-to-one with a woman or couple to help them understand their own unique phases of infertility and fertility in order to help her achieve or avoid pregnancy naturally or to gain information on her own reproductive health.
Why donate to Fertility Care Scotland?
During the 2020-2021 lockdown, we continued to teach our long-standing clients, as well as the increased amount of brand-new clients. The number of teacher instruction with clients tripled during this time and has remained just as steady since then. However, our regular donations have greatly decreased as a direct result of COVID19 on our usual donors. Consequently, we cannot meet the increased demand for our FREE services without YOUR help.
What will my donation fund?
We kindly request donations to cover the expenses to train more volunteer teachers so that we can alleviate the heavy demand on our current teachers and shorten the waiting list for our services. We also need to cover the growing IT and admin costs for our remote teaching and services in our virtual clinics and offices, as well as PPE and safety equipment to keep our clients and teachers safe when we are able to meet clients in person.
Here are examples of what your donation can fund:
£10 would assist our administration costs.
£25 helps toward the digital packages essential for our Virtual Clinics.
£55 would assist the material costs and resources we give clients to help in their instruction.
£100 would purchase necessary PPE equipment to keep our clients and teachers safe in our clinics.
£250 will help cover some of the costs to train a new Trainee Teacher.
The National Emergencies Trust has provided £2,250 of match funding
