Feral in New York
Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom
Aim
Tortoise in a Nutshell have the chance of a prestigious 4 week run at Off-Broadway venue, E59E in NYC. We need support to make this happen
Feral is a co-production with Cumbernauld Theatre, Scotland.
Tortoise in a Nutshell is a small artist run theatre company based in Edinburgh. We have toured work throughout Scotland and the UK for over 8 years to audiences of all ages. We create productions and participatory workshops which spark the imaginations of our audience.
We have been offered a very prestigious slot at an Off-Broadway theatre for a 4 week run of our award winning show, Feral. This is an incredible opportunity for us to break into the North American market and importantly showcase our style of work in one of the world’s capital of theatre. Our New York venue, E59E, has run the illustrious Brits Off Broadway season for a number of years and are incredibly excited for us to present our work to New York audiences.
The project has been widely supported and we have been lucky enough to secure funding from the Madie In Scotland fund and have also been invited to apply for funding from the Jim Henson Foundation. However, due to the expensive costs of staging a production in New York (accommodation for instance), the funding is not yet enough to ensure this incredible project can go ahead.
We are looking for a further £8,000 ($10,000). This would allow us to ensure the project could go ahead. We have launched this crowd funder with a whole host of exciting incentives.
Feral is an innovative multimedia show that we have had the pleasure to tour to audiences around the world. The opportunity to run in NYC would be an incredible opportunity to launch Tortoise in a Nutshell to the next level.
Feral is a show about civil action, community and what it means to come together and fall apart. We believe this show is as politically resonant now as it has ever been and we would be thrilled to perform this show in the United States of America at this time. Please support us to make this happen.
