Aim: FemThinkDo aims to provide you with the best and brightest feminist voices around, in a time when sharing ideas is more important than ever.
Who are we?
We are FemThinkDo, a feminist events company that sources the most brilliant and exciting people currently doing feminist work and shares them directly with you. We run 8 week programmes filled with different talks, workshops, and other events, all centred around the feminism of our current day and age. We see feminist writing and research as a call to arms for exciting and important political change, and something that has the power to make a real difference in the world. We’re trying to get our idea off the ground and produce our pilot 8 week programme – this is where you come in.
Why crowdfunding?
We decided to crowdfund our project for multiple reasons, but mainly for two central ones: crowdfunding not only allows us creative freedom, but it enables you to get directly involved with the process. With funding coming directly from our audience – that is, you – we get a good sense of who our core audience is and we are also able to engage directly with you, finding out what you want from FemThinkDo and working to make that a reality. With the combination of our ideas and your generous pledges, we will make an incredible pilot programme, featuring some of the most exciting new feminist speakers– there will be something there for everyone!
Your pledges will enable us to create a new feminist space where you can come, discover amazing new feminist voices, and share ideas. We only need a little funding to get started, and then we can begin to share all this amazing work with you. We have so much in the pipeline already! There are different tiers for pledges you can make, each with an increasing number of rewards. These are all explained in more detail below but here we just wanted to mention what we think is our most exciting reward: the online community. If you pledge over £30, you will have access to an exclusive online community, hosted on Facebook, where you and other backers can interact directly with us to discuss the project, suggest ideas, and vote on future events.
If you can donate even a little it would mean so much to us – thank you for funding our ambition, we’ll make sure it’s worth your while! We are dedicated to keeping our programme accessible to all in both information and cost, and the funding that you supply for FemThinkDo will allow us to do that.
Our goals
We are aiming to provide you with an incredible pilot programme with 8 weeks of events beginning in January 2021, with talks, workshops, and so much more. This first programme will feature talks such as ‘Queer Theatre’, ‘Feminism and science’, and ‘Feminism Meets the Institution’, among many others. As one of our core goals is accessibility, we also want to make these events as welcoming and comfortable for everyone as possible. This is why we want to put a portion of our funding towards live closed captioning, meaning that those who are hard of hearing are able to enjoy our events and feel comfortable at them. We believe this is fundamentally important, especially since so many online events are not accessible in this way. Your pledges will help to make all these ideas and ambitions a reality - thank you for your generous support and for enabling FemThinkDo to be as good as we know it can be.
