Aim

Help us continue our emergency food provision across the local community, putting food on the plates of families who have hit a crisis.

Support us at Harvest time!

At Bournemouth Foodbank, our core objective is to provide those facing crisis with relief in the form of a three day emergency food parcel along with essential toiletries; much the same as the other foodbanks operating across our country today.

We partner with over 200 agencies such as Citizens' Advice, local schools, housing associations and partner charities who issue vouchers on our behalf to people in the community who are facing hardship through crisis. This could be because a person is facing debt, homelessness or fleeing domestic abuse among many other reasons. We then work with clients to meet their practical and emotional needs as well as signposting to specialist services and help them out of crisis.

We have faced a consistent rise in demand for our emergency food over the last few years which we have tackled creatively, taking our foodbank to a place of growth and professionalism so that we can maintain levels of stock and distribution. We have a wonderful track record of delivering to our community year on year, ensuring that every referral has been met with a full crate of essential food and a warm welcome.

We know that this year with the cost of living crisis, energy crisis and housing crisis impacting the UK, we are sadly not going to see a reduction in demand. We have also experienced a decrease in food donations because people who used to support us are no longer as financially able. This adds extra pressure for us, as we now have to fundraise to purchase food in order to meet referrals.

Poverty no longer aligns with certain groups in society, nor does it follow a trend. Those in full time employment who cannot afford outgoings and bills they once could, are entering our services for the first time. In fact, around 63% of our clients are accessing us for the first time through no fault of their own. Where the cost of everything has risen, individuals and families are not seeing any increase in their Universal Credit to support with meeting the monthly essential outgoings such as rent, bills and food.

Why such a specific target? £2770 allows us to feed ONE HUNDRED local people or children, providing enough essential food and toiletries for three days each. If just 100 people donated £27.70, we would reach our target which would guarantee our food parcels where the cost of living is making life so difficult for so many.

We are calling on our community to join our mission in feeding Bournemouth. Our clients could be your next door neighbour...pupils in your children's class...a colleague you share a desk with...or even your own loved ones who cannot share through fear of shame and stigma. Donate to show your compassion and understanding to local families, so that we can continue this vital lifeline across Bournemouth.
