Win an hour of bespoke feedback with Kit de Waal on 1000 words of fiction, in aid of Bridport Arts Centre's Come Together campaign.
The Prize
A rather special opportunity for writers, and a chance to help secure the future of Bridport Arts Centre.
One winner will receive personal feedback on their writing from bestselling author, Bridport Prize winner and Honorary Patron Kit de Waal.
If you write, or have always wanted to, this is the prize for you.
Why this prize is special
Kit knows the Bridport Prize from both sides. Before My Name Is Leon, the bestselling novels, awards and BBC adaptation, she entered the Bridport Prize herself. And won it. Twice.
She later returned as a judge and is now the Prize’s Honorary Patron, championing new writers and the opportunities that prizes like Bridport can create.
Now one writer will have the chance to put their own work in front of Kit and receive personal feedback from her.
The Bridport Prize was founded more than 50 years ago by Peggy Chapman-Andrews, who also founded Bridport Arts Centre. Today it remains part of the Arts Centre and continues to discover and support writers from around the world.
Kit is one of its great success stories.
She won the Flash Fiction Prize in 2014 and again in 2015, before going on to become one of Britain’s best-known contemporary writers. Her debut novel My Name Is Leon was shortlisted for the Costa Book Award and later adapted for the BBC. She has since written novels, short stories and memoir, as well as teaching and championing new writers.
So this isn’t simply the chance to get feedback from a bestselling author.
It’s the chance to have your work read by someone who knows exactly what it feels like to send something you’ve written into the world, cross your fingers and wonder where it might lead.

Bridport Arts Centre has been at the heart of the town for more than 50 years.
Now we have the opportunity to bring the building into community ownership and protect its future.
Our aim is to raise £400,000 by 18 December to buy the building and make sure it remains a home for arts, ideas, creativity and community for generations to come.
The Bridport Prize is part of that story. What started here more than half a century ago now reaches writers all over the world.
By entering this draw, you could get some brilliant feedback on your own writing and help make sure stories like Kit’s can continue to start here.
