Friends! Thank you so much for visiting my 200 Miles for 200 Years page! I really appreciate it! Together, we can raise funds to restore and open up St Peter's, Walworth for our big birthday: 200 years old, 2025-26! St Peter's congregation and friends have raised an incredible £14,900 already, THANK YOU! And we now need to raise a further £15,900 to reach our full total match-funding for our National Lottery Heritage Fund Development Phase grant awarded in March 2025! The grant is an amazing achievement for a parish church like ours but also a huge vote of confidence from England's biggest heritage funder! And you can help us make the whole project a reality! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your support means so much to me and everyone in the St Peter's Church family!
St Peter's Church is a stunningly beautiful Grade 1 Listed John Soane building standing at the heart of one of London's most vibrant and yet deprived communities.
St Peter's is home to a beautifully vibrant and diverse congregation, and home to Saint Louie Cafe & Bakery, Mental Fight Club, Trampoline CIC and many groups, charities and individuals who enjoy the building for meetings, groups, classes, concerts and more!
Of course, above all St Peter's is a church with wide open doors, where hundreds of people of every background come each year to find, peace, prayer, joy, community and ways to be strengthened in serving our local community and beyond! Come and see, any Sunday at 10.30am! I know you'll receive a very warm welcome!
The building itself desperately needs restoring to its full beauty given to us all by Sir John Soane's amazing vision and architecture, opening up to full accessibility to us all today, and a full upgrade to more sustainable energy systems. At the same time this is an amazing opportunity to make St Peter's Church a fantastic visitor centre and place for our heritage in Walworth today and over the last 200 years!
Thank you for being part of this once in a generation project! And thank you to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for this first grant and to Lottery players everywhere!
