Fat Macy's - we need you!

Fat Macy’s is a small, specialist homelessness charity with a big vision: to empower individuals experiencing homelessness in London to secure stable housing and long-term employment. We know that escaping the cycle of homelessness requires more than temporary support; it calls for personalised, sustained guidance and real, hands-on experience.

Our core service is a transformative 200-hour hospitality training programme that provides job skills and a practical route out of homelessness. Through our sister social enterprise, Fat Macy’s Ltd—a lively, mission-driven restaurant called Sohaila—clients gain hands-on experience in a supportive, inspiring environment. Upon completing the programme, clients become eligible for a housing deposit grant funded by Fat Macy’s Ltd, allowing them to move from temporary accommodation into private rentals. This integration of social enterprise and charity enables us to deliver a meaningful and lasting impact.

Each client partners with a dedicated Progression and Engagement Officer, receiving holistic, person-centred support focused on wellbeing, housing, and employment. This relationship continues for up to 24 months post-resettlement, ensuring that clients not only find stability but thrive independently.

Since the last Big Supper Club, we’ve expanded partnerships, enabling trainees to complete 163% more training hours, while our support team has increased 1:1 guidance by 24%, covering wellbeing, employability, and tenancy support. We’ve also invested in our team’s development, ensuring top-quality support for each trainee. Already, five participants have completed the Milestone Programme this year, with another three set to finish by Christmas!

Together, we can break down the financial and personal barriers keeping people in temporary housing, creating lasting change.
