Access to family mediation should be available to all, including families on low incomes. With professional advice we can reach more.
Our Action Group membership consists of nearly all providers of Legally Aided Family Mediation (FM LA) across England and Wales. Our aim is to protect access to mediation for low income families, to minimise the impact of separation/divorce disputes on ex-partners, children and the Family Court.
Payments for FM LA work have not changed since 2004. Most of the working conditions have remained unchanged since 2018 despite increased expectations (re quality, security, online systems, etc). For the new FM LA contract in September 2024 we seek key changes:
-reasonable pay, linked to inflation
-updated contract conditions to enable smarter working
Our aims are supported by partner organisations working with families and children, as well as a growing number of partners in the judiciary. We are in contact with ministers focused on how our requests can save costs for the Family Court and other government family services.
Your financial support will be for these items - professional advice and resources, such as advice from a lobbying organisation and, if necessary, legal advice.
Non-financial support can be offered by completing the 'Support for Change' form or raising awareness by sharing our campaign.
