Aim

We are launching Another Weigh Falmouth - a community-run, zero-waste shop that will enable people to shop ethically and affordably.

ANOTHER WEIGH FALMOUTH – BRINGING ZERO-WASTE SHOPPING BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY

We are launching Another Weigh Falmouth — a community-run, zero-waste shop that will enable people to shop ethically, affordably and with minimal waste, while connecting residents to climate action and positive community change.

While our overall target is £30,000 we only need to raise £12,500 from community members thanks to match funding from AVIVA doubling all of your donations and a grant from Cornwall Council which will unlock once we get to £25,000.

By contributing £30 or more now, you will help us to set up the shop, but also get your membership upfront- meaning 10% of all food products once the shop opens, and a say in decisions going forward.

ANOTHER WEIGH – WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?

The Another Weigh shops support everyone to reduce waste and carbon footprints while creating a warm, accessible and fun shopping experience, with two shops currently operating in Cumbria. Every purchase helps fund Another Way’s mission to empower people to live with kindness towards our planet.

Our shops are designed to be:

  • Ethical – supporting sustainable and local producers where possible.

  • Affordable – keeping prices accessible during the cost-of-living crisis.

  • Accessible – welcoming everyone, with an inclusive, stigma-free approach.

  • Fun – making low-waste shopping enjoyable and inspiring.

  • Community-centred – built around local involvement and volunteering.

  • Hubs for climate action, education and connection with like-minded people.

A shop in Falmouth could save around 80,000 plastic bottles every year and enable hundreds of customers to access healthy, sustainable food without packaging.

A SHOP — AND SO MUCH MORE!

We have identified a fantastic shop premises in Falmouth Town Centre, located next to two parking areas and a main bus stop, ensuring easy access for everyone.

The Falmouth shop will provide a wide range of refill and zero-waste essentials, including food refills, liquid and cleaning refills, zero-waste and ethical products such as toiletries, make-up and skincare products, reusable nappies, toilet roll and kitchen paper, reusable coffee cups and bottles, gifts and local ethical products. We will support local producers by offering fresh vegetables and herbs from community gardens, alongside ethical artwork, reusable products, books and clothing.

The space is large enough not only to host our refill shop – but also allow us to create a vibrant community hub focused on sustainability, wellbeing and connection, hosting community events such as:

  • Pop-up swap shops for clothes and books.

  • Repair cafés, supporting reuse and skill-sharing.

  • A hot drinks station

  • A co-working zone.

  • Evening talks, workshops and climate events.

  • Space hire for community groups and clubs.

This hub will provide low-cost activities, volunteering, connection and climate education — supporting community wellbeing alongside environmental action.

IMPROVING RURAL ACCESS

As part of our community mission in Cornwall, we’re exploring a local delivery service to villages and community centres, helping people who may face transport barriers and ensuring sustainable shopping is accessible to everyone – not just those living in town.

WHO ARE WE?

Another Way is a youth-led environmental education charity dedicated to inspiring and empowering individuals to live compassionately towards our planet. It was established in 2019 by Amy Bray, a passionate environmental advocate who began her journey at just 16 and it has since grown into a nationwide movement. We believe that small, individual actions can lead to great changes when multiplied.

WHAT WILL £40,000 ENABLE US TO DO?

We need to raise the capital costs to set up a shop and community space. This includes heating, electrical work, carpentry, all the units and fit out, as well as equipment. We will need zero-waste dispensers, scales, containers, the all-important peanut butter machine, tables, chairs and more!

We also need capital to buy initial stock, pay a manager to set up the shop, and create signage.

Our budget headlines are:

£16,000- zero-waste shop equipment

£4,000- community space equipment

£10,000- initial stock

£10,000- fit-out, decoration and building materials

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!

To open the shop, we need to cover two essential startup costs: shop fit-out & equipment (dispensers, shelving, scales, containers, counter, signage) and initial stock order.

Every donation, no matter the size, moves us closer to opening our doors and drives a greater impact, helping us achieve lasting change.

Remember? Small, individual actions can lead to great change when multiplied. Together, we can make this movement bigger, stronger and more accessible — ensuring sustainability remains part of everyday life in Cornwall while bringing back not just a shop, but a vital community service to Falmouth.

Your support means so much. 🌍💚
