Aim

To allow people experiencing financial hardship to access fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy and day to day staples.

Fair Frome was started 10 years ago, in response to the growing needs of residents affected by poverty. We are an Independent charity with 1 full-time member of staff and 2 part-time, and 8 Volunteer Trustees.

The Food Bank was the first project and then gradually over the years we have developed various other hands-on projects in response to the needs identified in the community. The Food Bank allows people access to fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy and every day to day store cupboard items.

As the Cost of Living crisis continues our demand has grown and our food donations decreased.

The Food Bank allows the community to access a balanced diet when they are financially struggling. This break will help support people e.g. to pay off some debt, buy school uniform giving them control of their finances. We support and signpost clients to financial assistance schemes help them engage to help build their financial tools kit. As a result people's mental health will improve, financial wellbeing supported while maintaining a balanced diet. We work closely with Citizen's Advice, local debt advisors, Probation Officers, Housing Associations, Energy Advisors, Social Services, other local charities, schools, nurseries to help ensure that people are receiving the maximum support possible. By working with other agencies we can work together to support people to stop debt rising, giving clients the tools needed to become financially more independant such as budgeting advice, cheap meals/batch cooking advice, applying for grants, checking benefits, checking energy suppliers, making sure people know about how much appliances cost and how to help reduce electricity bills.

The money raised will go towards maintaining stock levels of the most needed store cupboard items and fresh dairy products. This will ensure that everyone is able to access a balanced diet.
