October Books Vouchers - help us through Covid!

Aim

Buy an October Books voucher! Help us get through this period where the shop and community space are shut because of Covid19.

October Books is a Cooperative independent bookshop in Southampton. We have been a place which draws people together through shared interests for 40 years. 

As a neighbourhood cooperative we try to serve the interests of the local community, and as "more than" an independent bookshop we attract people who want to meet and share resources and ideas with like minded others - for example through interest in ethical and Fairtrade goods; current affairs, green and ethical lifestyles, LGBTQ issues; therapeutic issues; anti-racism. Last year we expanded to create our Community Space at the shop and have been both renting this out to local groups and hosting events, bringing in extra income to the shop and supporting local community activities. 

The global COVID-19 pandemic has created a very uncertain landscape for  millions of British small businesses, which is going to make it very challenging for businesses to survive. Solent Local Enterprise Partnership are supporting local businesses to Crowdfund to help us through this time. 

Here's how it works. Crowdfunding is available for a business like ours, through the 'Pay It Forward' campaign. This means we can raise funds now, which you can access in the form of October Books vouchers, to spend in the shop when we re-open, give as presents or spend through on-line shopping . If this campaign is successful, Solent LEP will match fund us.

Remember - Local Enterprise Partnership is offering to match fund with a grant the money raised by this appeal. So for every £ you spend on an October Books Voucher, once we reach our target of £2k we will receive another £ of public funds!
