We’re Appealing to Europe's High Chamber — the final push in a 5-year fight
Our appeal to the Grand Chamber is the final step in a five-year fight. We followed the evidence, challenged the UK Government in Strasbourg over its refusal to probe credible Russian interference, and secured a vital recognition: elections must be protected and states cannot be passive. Now we’re asking the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights to turn principle into enforceable action.
This is the last push!
Why this moment matters
The Nathan Gill guilty plea pulled the curtain back on how pro-Kremlin narratives can be laundered into mainstream politics - the same ecosystem that buoyed Farage/Reform. This isn’t ancient history; it’s a live vulnerability. Public attention is finally here. We must use this moment to push harder than ever before.
What we’re asking the Court to do
Under Article 3 of Protocol 1 (the right to free elections), we’re pressing for clear, practical duties:
- A duty to investigate: when there are credible claims of interference, the state must investigate. Without facts, rights are hollow.
- Positive measures to safeguard elections: “free and fair” can’t be theoretical - it must mean real-world protections that evolve with modern threats.
- Proportionate standards that bite: the bar for proving violations can’t be so high that nothing ever counts.
- Context matters: interference from hostile, anti-democratic states demands stronger, clearer defenses.
Judge Jakab has already urged the Court to clarify these points. We’re taking him up on it - for the sake of voters in the UK and right across Europe.
What winning unlocks
A Grand Chamber ruling that sets these duties would:
- Force meaningful action in the UK - no more burying credible leads.
- Create a Europe-wide benchmark for protecting elections in the era of disinformation and covert influence.
- Supercharge the push for a full UK public inquiry with legal teeth, not just political promises.
In a time when accountability is scarce, this is how we give it teeth.
Proof we can move the needle
You helped carry this fight through every stage. You helped power our hit podcast Sergei & the Westminster Spy Ring(finalist in four British Podcast Awards) so the public could follow the story. People care. Institutions are paying attention. We are close.
Why we need funding — and why it matters
Appealing at this level takes serious resources: specialist counsel, expert evidence, drafting, filing, communications and the public-interest advocacy that ensures any judgment actually changes practice. None of this is theoretical admin; it’s the difference between a warning shot and a workable rulebook for defending elections.
There are no deep pockets behind this - just citizens who refuse to accept that manipulation, dark money, and foreign influence are the price of modern politics. If we don’t fund this, it won’t happen. If we do, we set a precedent that will protect voters for years.
What’s at stake
If we stumble now, the next covert network, the next laundered narrative, the next shadow donation slips through the cracks. If we win, we hard-wire investigation, transparency, and protection into the system that chooses our leaders.
Five years in. One final push.
Back the appeal. Help us set the standard Europe needs — and prove nobody is above scrutiny.
