The Hubble is only phase one of our huge plans for the future. We feel like our serv...
To expand our exteremely popular service so that we can accept as many members possible and ensure that we deliver the best service we can.
Our rapid expansion:
-------------------------------
Our Members are requesting your help to ensure that The Hut can only get better. Since we opened in 2011 as a members led charity we have rapidly expanded and now have over 240 members who come on various days, with many coming on multiple as they love the place so much.
Although we love our very homely building its time for an expansion. With our 99 year lease we now want to transform the adjacent building into 'The Hubble'. We need the space so we can take on more new members and make their experience at our day service better for them. It will also ensure that we can add more groups in the future with a couple already in the pipeline.
We will be able to offer a better service once we have expanded and the money raised will go towards the funds for Phase 1 with surplus/ remainder if we meet our goal earlier going in to the day to day costs of The Hut's bigger picture to offer those groups we have in the pipeline and support us whilst funding can be difficult to obtain.
Who are we?
-------------------
The Hut York is a registered charity providing purposeful activities and support for people with enduring mental health issues and/or learning disabilities. Long and short term. We are based at the beautiful Clarence Gardens in York.
What do we offer?
---------------------------
Currently we have a whole host of different activities and groups:
Monday Movement, a chair based exercise session full of fun.

Men's Lunch Club, a place for men to discuss anything. It is a non-judgemental space where member’s can debate with one another in a respectful safe environment, express feelings and offer help to others.
Art Sessions, a time for our members to be creative, it doesn't matter what skill level they are.
Crafts sessions, simple and easy to do crafts that ensure our members have fun and have something to take home.

Games day, a day packed with fun and games, every Wednesday with bingo being a usual favourite with prizes on offer.
Food craft, a food based session where our members learn how to make certain dishes. Usually has a healthy focus however there are some crazy weeks. Always very well attended but need more space to ensure we don't turn people away.

The Aspire Programme - To build skills required to engage in meaningful occupation over time. Within this there is a whole host of things:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My Journey, a supported open discussion-based group to develop social skills
Stepping Stones, for those who have completed sessions in My Journey and have expressed a goal to continue specific skills building
Moving Forward, 1-1 guidance and support tailored to the individual to engage in meaningful occupation.
Hut Scribes, we have a very informal Creative Writing Workshop at The Hut. The aim of the session is to have light hearted fun and a first step in to relaxed writing.

Coming soon - The Umbrella Project - a support group for those on long term sick to discuss anything with no judgement or pressure to get back to work all over a bit of cake.
Our Vision:
----------------
At the moment we are really being pushed to our limits. We have lots of members who love what we do and love coming to The Hut. We have an expansion plan in place where we plan to transform the toilet block adjacent to our main building into another part to The Hut. We want to call it 'The Hubble.'
By expanding, it will give us the space that we vitally need to ensure the quality of our service is the best it can be. Due to the rise in numbers we need to ensure that our standards do not drop and the extra space will give our talented staff more room to work with creating better sessions, along with being able to run the day to day needs to our high level.
How will your money be spent:
----------------------------------------------
All the money that we raise is going towards the building works. Due to our fantastic efforts so far and the generosity of the public we are nearly there. Now we are on the final push to finally fund phase one so that we can help out those in the community. For our last round of fundraising we have turned to crowdfunding and are looking to raise £10,000, if we meet the required level of money the remainder will be ploughed in to the day to day running of the service.
