With 100+ kids & new teams, Ewhurst CC urgently needs a roll-out wicket to provide safe facilities and sustain our thriving Juniors.
Project Title: A New Wicket for Ewhurst’s Next Generation
Who are we?
We are Ewhurst Cricket Club, a historic and volunteer-run club located right at the heart of our village on The Green. We are a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) dedicated to providing cricket for everyone—from our competitive Village Cricket League (VCL) senior teams to our thriving social scene.
But our biggest pride right now is our Juniors Section. We are currently "bursting at the seams" with enthusiasm, supporting over 100 local children aged 5 to 14. We are a hub for families, a place for fitness, and a vital part of the Ewhurst community spirit.

Why are we crowdfunding?
We are crowdfunding to solve a brilliant problem: we are growing faster than our facilities can handle.
This coming season, our Juniors section is taking a massive leap forward. We are enrolling three new competitive league teams (two U8 and one U9) and establishing a dedicated girls' friendly team to promote greater inclusion in the sport.
However, our beautiful village green has limits. We urgently need a high-quality roll-out wicket (a portable, artificial surface) to increase our capacity.
DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT: The Sport England Pledge We have fantastic news! Sport England has tentatively pledged £2,000 toward this project—effectively half of our target! However, there is a catch: We only unlock this funding if we raise the other £2,000 ourselves from the community. This means every £1 you donate is effectively worth £2 to the club.
Why this project is vital:

How we’ll spend the money raised
We believe in full transparency. Our total project cost is £4,000. If we raise our £2,000 share from the crowd, Sport England will provide the remaining £2,000.
Here is exactly where that £4,000 will go:
(Note: If we are lucky enough to go over our target, surplus funds will be reinvested into coaching courses for our volunteer parents).

Community impact
This project goes beyond just cricket; it is about keeping Ewhurst active and connected.
Health & Wellbeing: By securing this surface, we guarantee over 100 local children have regular access to outdoor exercise, combating sedentary lifestyles.
Inclusion: This wicket is the foundation for our new focus on Girls' Cricket, providing a welcoming environment for female players in the village.
Village Life: Ewhurst Green is a public space. By using a portable wicket rather than laying a permanent concrete slab, we preserve the aesthetic beauty of the Green for all residents while still offering top-tier sports facilities.

How you can play your part
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success! Remember, your donation helps us unlock the Sport England funding.
Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
