We believe that opportunities to be active and grow in confidence through sport can transform both children and their communities.
Our Story
School holidays account for 13 weeks of the year. For families in less affluent areas these weeks mean a loss of educational support, and school meals. Holiday hunger and learning loss over this period only serve to fuel the attainment gap between higher and lower income communities.
Burgess Sports works next to the Aylesbury Estate, which ranks in the top 11% of most disadvantaged communities in the UK, and has faced 80% council cuts in the provision of children and youth services over the past 10 years.
In short, there is a lack of opportunity for children in our community to learn, grow and be children.
We want to change this.
We believe they should have the same opportunities as other children. Opportunities to learn new sports, gain confidence, social and problem solving skills and most importantly to have fun.
Our holiday camps work with about 150 children from 9am-3:30pm everyday. We have expert sports coaches delivering fun and exciting sports. We also have an amazing chef who prepares fresh healthy lunches for all the children and even leads cooking classes, so that children go home with new skills and new friends.
