If we can raise more, we can provide a greater variety of bikes and learning experience for local kids! Mountain bikes, BMX, cyclocross!
Providing bikes to allow any child in the Holmfirth area to learn to ride and develop skills, confidence and fitness.

If we can raise more, we can provide a greater variety of bikes and learning experience for local kids! Mountain bikes, BMX, cyclocross!
Holmfirth Cycling Club has been teaching kids to ride bikes since 2013 and welcomes riders of any age, gender, ethnicity and physical ability. However, there is an economic barrier to cycling and many children don't have access to a suitable bike and a safe and enjoyable place to ride. This situation will be exacerbated by the economic downturn resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic. Children from homes experiencing financial hardship may be unable to access the facilities for sports and recreation that they will need to return to normal life.
The current pandemic has also stopped sports clubs, such as Holmfirth Cycling Club, from offering coaching to young people for many months. We will need to rebuild our coaching activities to restore the vibrant, energetic community that the children love.
Holmfirth Cycling Club is raising money to buy bikes and safety equipment that children can use to access our coached activities. Through this project, we will be able to offer cycle coaching to any child who wants to learn, regardless of socio-economic background. This will range from youngsters balancing and pedaling for the first time through to teens learning mountain bike or bmx skills.
“FIENDISHLY SIMPLE, YET BRUTALLY HARD. EVERESTING IS THE MOST DIFFICULT CLIMBING CHALLENGE IN THE WORLD.”
The concept of Everesting is fiendishly simple: Pick any hill, anywhere in the world and complete repeats of it in a single activity until you climb 8,848m – the equivalent height of Mt Everest
In July 2020, Chris Taylor of Holmfirth Cycling Club and Espresso Performance Coaching will be Everesting on Bradshaw Road, Honley to raise money for new bikes for kids to learn to ride.
