I am disabled, awaiting surgery and I need support for my recovery and my creative community project in the name of my late Mum

The Evelyn Livingstone Foundation: Art, Recovery & Community

Honouring a Legacy. Empowering Creativity. Supporting Recovery.

My name is Christopher, an artist, writer, and long‑time community development practitioner living in Edinburgh. Throughout my life, I’ve worked across mental health advocacy, LGBT rights, youth engagement, and addiction recovery. Creativity has always been at the heart of my work and my own healing.

Today, I’m building something deeply personal: The Evelyn Livingstone Foundation, a community art centre created in memory of my mother, Evelyn, whose compassion and love shaped who I am. This centre will be a place where healing, creativity, and community come together, supporting people who need space, connection, and artistic expression.

Your support will help make this vision real.

❤️ Why I’m Launching This Foundation

In 2021, my mother Evelyn passed away, leaving behind a powerful legacy of kindness and care. I want to honour that legacy by creating a centre that embodies her values — a place that lifts people up, offers belonging, and supports those facing challenges

At the same time, I’m navigating a major personal health journey. I’m awaiting revision hip surgery (scheduled for May 2026), following an early replacement in 2007 due to a childhood illness and misdiagnosis. Recovery will take 6–8 months, during which maintaining my creative practice and community work will be essential for my physical and emotional wellbeing.

This campaign supports both:

  • The establishment of a community art centre, and
  • My own recovery, so I can continue contributing through art, mentorship, and community-building.

🎨 The Vision: What the Foundation Will Do

The Evelyn Livingstone Foundation will become a welcoming, empowering creative space offering:

Free or Low‑Cost Programmes

  • Inclusive community art sessions
  • Accessible creative workshops
  • Youth and community empowerment activities
  • Mentorship for emerging artists

I plan to secure a local community space where people can gather, create, and heal together.
