The Woof Warmers workshops is an innovative and personalised programme centred around repurposing discarded fabrics that would otherwise end up in landfills. Through these workshops, we creatively transform these rejected materials into chic and cosy dog coats, reducing waste and providing comfort to our beloved pets and contributing to a greener future.
Moreover, the heart of the Woof Warmer programme lies in its mission to support young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in the Northeast, including those with different abilities. By involving them in the repurposing process, we offer them a meaningful opportunity to engage in various workplace roles, fostering personal growth and skills development. Our goal is to empower these individuals to make informed decisions within a business environment, preparing them for a successful future.
Firstly, our observation of the significant waste generated in the embroidered clothing market led to rejected garments. Secondly, the challenges faced by a close friend's autistic son in finding employment sparked my determination to make a positive change. Further research revealed that this issue was not uncommon, compelling me to initiate a pilot project that could make a difference in the lives of these young individuals.
