Transforming unused green spaces into thriving organic food hubs. Pilot for new national initiative cultivating community longevity circles.
These bulbs have been generously donated by our wonderful 'Flower Business Supporter' Suttons, in celebration of their parent brand Thompson & Morgan's 170th birthday. Suttons’ gift of 170 bulbs will help us fill the garden with vibrant colour, planting edible and pollinator friendly flowers.
A huge thank you also goes to our other 'Flower Business Supporters' Eco Sustainable Solutions for donating 12m3 Organic Compost and STIGA for sending us a selection of gardening power tools with continued support of the Ethical Kitchen Garden initiative for all to enjoy for many years to come.
In today’s UK, where health challenges and food insecurity are rising, learning to grow nutritious, organic food is more vital than ever. Our project is about more than farming, it’s about empowering our community to take control of what we eat and how it’s grown. Our Ethical Kitchen Garden is proud to contribute to Dorset Council’s Local Nature Recovery Strategy and the wider 30 by 30 conservation goal, a national and international ambition to protect 30% of land and sea for nature by 2030.
With your support, we’re building a unique, sustainable farm that blends innovation with tradition to tackle these urgent issues.
We’re developing a mushroom maze, a natural, self-sustaining system that produces nutrient-rich mushrooms year-round. A smart water irrigation system will help crops thrive while conserving water and reducing environmental impact. To power our efforts, we’re installing a solar hybrid and micro-utility system, keeping the farm running cleanly and efficiently. We’re also introducing beekeeping to support pollinators and boost biodiversity.
Alongside this, we’re carrying out healing research and development into the medicinal properties of plants to offer natural wellness options to our community.
The heart of our mission is the Ethical Kitchen Garden Educational Programme, a national initiative designed to help communities transform underused green spaces, such as churchyards and public gardens, into organic, sustainable kitchen gardens.
The programme promotes intergenerational learning, bringing together young people and older generations to share growing skills, improve yields, and strengthen community bonds. With an easy-to-follow framework, local groups, churches, and organisations across the UK will be empowered to create thriving food hubs in their own spaces.
Our pilot project at St Ambrose Church in Westbourne, Dorset, will serve as a blueprint for communities nationwide. With our next two gardens planned for opening in York & London.
Together, we can build resilience, improve wellbeing, and nurture both land and community for generations to come.
We warmly invite local businesses to join us for workforce wellbeing days at the farm. Each company can have its own planter bed, a peaceful spot where staff can connect with nature, unwind, and learn to grow organic food. Our open space is available for businesses and their teams to pop by anytime, with weekly drop-ins every Wednesday from 6–8pm, offering a calming, restorative environment to boost wellbeing and community spirit.
By supporting us, you’re investing in a greener, healthier future where communities thrive through shared learning and sustainable food production.
