We're still collecting donations
On the 29th July 2020 we'd raised £12,280 with 216 supporters in 28 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

We will use the extra money to invest in a biodegradable teabag manufacturing machine for our shop!
We need the support of our customers and friends to help us fit out our new space!
We've secured the lease to a shop in Heaton that we are going to make into our permanent home. This will be a space where you can come to drink good tea and coffee, eat delicious cakes and sandwiches, or buy tea to take home.
We have saved most of the money that we need to fit out our new shop, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have a gap in our funding.
The money raised by this Crowdfunder will go towards fitting out and setting up our new shop, as well as buying some essential pieces of equipment for packing and blending our teas on a larger scale.
In return for your support, we've put together a big mix of rewards as our way of saying thank you. All pledges, small and large, will help us reach the finish line.
My name's Tom and I started Estate Tea Co while at university in 2015. We buy small batches and rare teas directly from tea gardens and farmers across the globe.
I started the business working from a small spare room in a house in Heaton, with just enough room for a few sacks of tea and some weighing scales. We sold our tea at local spots like Tynemouth market at first. In 2016, I decided to take on our first business premises; a small industrial unit in Gateshead where I could store, blend and dispatch more tea! This worked out great and in 2018 I decided to open up our first little shop in Gateshead, taking on a couple of members of staff to help me with the ever increasing demand for our tea. This is where you'll still find us today!
Since those earlier days, we've gone on to supply big names like Selfridges, Fenwick and Whole Foods Market, as well as 70 independent businesses across the UK! We recently ran out of space again, which is why we’re taking on our new shop.
Our new shop in Heaton has a ground floor and basement level; as soon as we saw it we knew it was perfect for us! It is 4 x the size of our current shop, so we've got plenty of room to grow over the coming years. This project will also mean that we can take on extra members of staff. We’re excited to have the opportunity to employ more people from the local community to join our close knit team!
The ground floor will have space for a 30 seater cafe, a private event room and a shop where you can buy all of our teas to take home. We'll also be offering a delicious range of sandwiches, cakes and pastries from local producers.
The basement will be used to store our bulks of tea, as well as giving us the space for packing and manufacturing all of our products! It has enough space to last us for decades and allow us to continue to grow. As you can see, there’s a lot of work to do to get this space ‘tea ready’ which is why we need your help.
This project CAN'T happen without you. Over the past 5 years we have been humbled by the support of our incredible customers and ecstatic to be able to bring unique small batch tea to the North East.
In order to continue to do so, we need your pledges to cross the finish line and it would mean the world to have our community continue to support our journey and help us reach our next stage.
Check out the rewards, make a pledge and we hope to welcome you to our new space very soon.
Tom x
