Aim

We have had to close our Clubhouse during Lockdown, but our running costs are around £1,000 a month. Please help us in these difficult times

Who Are We?

We are a small village based Rugby Club who provide Sport and activities for the local community. We moved to Essington in 1995.  We currently run two men's teams and two mixed touch teams.

Why Do We Need Help Now?

We have reduced our overheads as much as possible, but this still leaves costs of around £1,000 per month covering such items as:

  • Utility payments, security payments, insurance & financial charges;
  • Pitch and training pitch maintenance;
  • Additional safety measures required emanating from the impact of COVID 19 to ensure the safe participation of visitors, supporters and players alike.

The list goes on.

As the club is likely to be closed for at least 5 months we'll lose £5,000 plus all the money we would have made from hosting outside events throughout the summer.

What Do We Offer Our Local Community?

1591459546_room.jpg

 We have the largest facility in the village for hosting Special Events. As we have said we will be losing significant earnings during Lockdown.

But what we must not forget is that for every cancelled event there is a local family or families facing the distress and frustration at having their Wedding Reception cancelled, or their Engagement Party, or Christening, or 21st Birthday Party, or 70th Birthday Party.

Try to imagine what it would be like to be in that situation.

We have had to cancel all of these and more. The people who hire our club are often friends, neighbours from the village or have used the club for previous celebrations. Our heartfelt sympathies to all of them.

VE Celebrations

Together with our friends at the Essington British Legion we had sold
160 tickets for the 75th Anniversary Celebrations. All current and ex service personnel in the Parish had also been invited as guests of honour.

We had planned to recreate 1945 Celebrations with rows of tressle tables at which everyone would take afternoon tea. A series of games had been planned and even a local choir was coming along to lead the singing of all the old war time songs that everyone loves.

Free Bonfire Party

Every year we invite the villagers to come to our Free Bonfire and Fireworks Party. Usually around 1,000 villagers turn up and it is probably the biggest single event held in the village.

As we all know Care Homes are still suffering badly, so we have created a £5 donation button and we will buy more food with all donations paid on this button.
