Firstly, we need to build 3 large (10ft x 6ft) enclosures so we have more room for animals needing to be rehomed, then fund vets fee's.
Between us, we have over 30 years experience keeping pets, and over 20 years working professionally with animals.
We own and run a small business selling forage for all small foraging animals. We also support small charities around the country by sending them free forage or donating raffle prizes to help raise funds for their rescues.
We have been wanting to start a rescue for small animals in our area, as we noticed many animals waiting for rescue spaces that we couldn't save and keep ourselves.
We searched the area and couldn't find any specialised rescues nearby for rabbits, guinea pigs and other small animals. We sat for hours pondering the best way to help - we have the room, the expertise, a fantastic small animal savvy vet - but just not the funds on our own.
Then we found out about 2 rabbits that had been released into the wild who needed to be caught, rehabbed and rehomed.
Acorn & Garlic were caught, vaccinated and Acorn had to go to be operated on to see if she was spayed.
We footed all the bills ourselves (over £200 just for the vets fee's). Just as Acorn & Garlic found a new home, we heard about another rabbit who needed a rescue space, vaccinating, neutering, taming and rehoming.
We decided to put our plans into action!
Unfortunately, we cannot afford everything ourselves. We need your help!
We have 3 enclosures planned - each one meets the RWAF minimum housing standard (10ft x 6ft). These enclosures will be able to house 2 rabbits in each, or 3-4 guinea pigs, depending on sex.
We also have vets bills to pay for all the animals that need help.
