Ellingham and Ringwood RFC are a community rugby club based in Ringwood in the New Forest.
This volunteer run club provides a safe rugby environment for all players from the age of 4, through its Minis', Juniors', Girls' and Colts' sections, before offering adult rugby to both Senior Men and Senior Women
For many years, Ellingham and Ringwood RFC have been holding a community Good Friday Beer and Rugby festival that raises much needed funds to keep this rugby club, that is both emotionally and geographically at the heart of the community, running for all rugby players and spectators to enjoy.
This year, only a few hours before the volunteer run Good Friday festival was due to start, Storm Nelson took its toll and destroyed the clubs marquee, that was not only the tap room and bar for the festival, but also provided shelter against the good old British weather.
It was only the sheer hard work of the clubs volunteers, and the purchase of a number of small gazebos at great cost to the club, could this years event go ahead.
Without a marquee of the right size etc., it will be almost impossible for the clubs Good Friday beer and rugby festival to continue. This fund raising event will hopefully allow the club to purchase a marquee that will not only be perfect for Easter 2025, but also for many years to come
Ellingham and Ringwood RFC is first and foremost a community sports club but it also supports the community by collecting for the local food bank, entering the Ringwood carnival, running rugby sessions in schools etc. and all from its home in the heart of the community
