Attention bands, musicians and music fans!
8 years ago, I came to the UK on tour with my band Syren which was an all female folk/rock trio. Myself, my bassist Amanda and my drummer (and civil partner) Jo achieved great success in the underground UK scene and were proud to say that we made our living purely from gigging in the UK and Europe.
Sadly, in 2012 Jo passed away due to breast cancer and it brought an end to the band and nearly to me.
I was able to record and release a track called 'Never Give Up The Fight' in Jo's memory two months after her death...and later that year, the song won me the 'Frankie Miller Songwriter of the Year' Award at the 2012 Scottish New Music Awards.
This really proved to me that music and touring is where my heart lies and that though it would be a struggle (and it has been a struggle) I should never give up.
In 2015 I released my first solo record, 'ReFlowered' after forming a new band. The album won us the 'Best Solo Album of the Year' award from Scotland's Local Music Scene Blog.
Shortly after, I released a companion book to the album which broke the record down and explained my story track by track... Then, I hit the road on my first solo tour of the UK in May 2016 and I've been riding on the waves of the excellent response I've had since I got back a couple of weeks ago.
Everyone knows that building a career in music is an uphill climb and many people/artists/bands give up before ever reaching their full potential. I have been incredibly blessed with an amazing support group of managers, band mates and fans who have seen my dream and come together to try and help make it reality.
I (along with my fellow band members) have spent every spare minute and penny we have to bring Erin Bennett and the EB band to where we are now and having just completed our first successful UK tour we are VERY excited to get back on the road both in the UK and Europe and play our music to not only the people who have supported us for years, but those who have only just discovered us. (As well as bring you all new music)
Money involved in touring doesn't just cover fuel and hotel rooms. It includes food, rehearsal space leading up to the tour, promo and fees to venues and sound guys. Don't forget about the time bands take away from the things that actually pay their bills, etc...
It seems the days of record label scouts 'discovering' you in a back alley pub are all gone and its up to the hard-core, driven, DIYers to lead the way in this new blossoming industry.
So I'm appealing to all of you who have supported me this far and who have believed in me all this time to get behind me one more time. We have started this crowdfunding campaign in hopes of raising the funds needed to support our next tour. The quicker we reach our goal the quicker we can get back out on the road and play to all of you fabulous creatures!
