New stretch target

Thank you so much to everyone that has pledged and helped us reach our £3,500 target. We're super excited and can't wait for the day!

The Stamford Ward Residents Association (SWRA) and Epsom Common Association (ECA) are already busy planning the day, and the plans sound amazing!

CoProCo will post an update as soon as we can confirm the details for the day. We have also offered free of charge support in the organisation of the event.

To enable any residents to add a pledge, the funding target has been extended to £5,000. Every penny that is not spent on the day will be donated to charity, so please encourage friends and family to continue to support until this event closes.

Thank you again. You rock Epsom & Ewell!

Much love,

The CoProCo Team.

The Event

We’re raising funds to bring back one of Epsom’s most unique and popular family events, Epsom Common Day, last hosted in 2014 and enjoyed by “hundreds of families who turned out to pet farm animals, watch woodwork demonstrations, visit stalls and learn about conservation”. Source: Epsom Guardian (22nd July 2014).

If we are successful in raising funds, at Epsom Common Day 2018 you’ll experience live music, stalls and family attractions on Stamford Green as well as a scavenger hunt in the nature reserve.

Epsom Common Day 2018 will be steeped in local history as 2018 marks the 400 year anniversary of Epsom Well, the discovery site of ‘Epsom Salt’, back in 1618. This discovery gave Epsom its first claim to fame as a Spa town during the 17th & 18th Centuries.

Guaranteed to be fun for all ages, this is a not-for-profit event arranged by volunteers, so every pound raised will go towards the event itself. Please pledge your support!

What makes this project great?

We’re so fortunate to have Epsom Common on our doorstep; open all year round, our local nature reserve is enjoyed by walkers, runners, cyclists and horse-riders alike. In the summer months, there is an abundance of wildlife across the 176 hectare reserve, so there’s no better time to host a unique family fun day rooted in the woodlands and its wildlife.

Epsom Common Day 2018 will be fun for all ages…from young explorers who want to learn more about animals and their habitats, to adults who fancy giving woodturning a go!

And with Epsom Common Club and two of Epsom’s best pubs, The Cricketers and The Jolly Coopers, a stone’s throw away from the event, there will be plenty of opportunity to relax afterwards!

How is the money being spent?

This is a not-for-profit event, run by volunteers, so every pound raised will go towards the event itself (less the CrowdFunder.co.uk admin fees). That means the size of the event will depend on how much we raise! An initial target of £3,500 has been set, which includes fun family activities, live music and animal encounters.

  • We need to raise £3,500 to hold the event.
  • If we do not hit this target, then all pledges will be refunded by Crowdfunder.co.uk
  • If we hit the target, we will extend the project to target £5k and offer more activities for the family to enjoy.
  • Any funds not spent on the event will be donated to local charities and organisations.

Who's behind the event?

The event is being organised by the Epsom Common Association, in association with Epsom & Ewell Borough Council, Stamford Ward Residents’ AssociationThe Lower Mole Partnership and a new local community projects company called CoProCo (Community Projects Company).

Find out more below:

Epsom Common Association (ECA)

The ECA was founded in 1974 by a group of local people who cared passionately about the protection and future welfare of Epsom Common. Now, 44 years on, the ECA has over 800 members and more than 30 volunteers, the ECOVOLS, who regularly carry out conservation management tasks on the Common.

Stamford Ward Residents’ Association (SWRA)

SWRA was established in 1937 as Stamford Ward's local Residents Association (open for all residents to join). Stamford Ward is on the South West side of Epsom and is one of the largest wards in the Borough of Epsom & Ewell - currently containing almost 3,000 households, but also a number of parks and open spaces available to its residents (including Epsom Common). The area has a long and interesting history and the Residents’ Association is determined to ensure that it continues to be a well maintained and pleasant place in which to live and work.

The SWRA is managed by a committee including 3 current Councillors who wish to ensure that residents of the ward enjoy a borough that is both pleasant to live in and a pleasure to work in.

The Lower Mole Partnership

The Lower Mole Partnership comprises boroughs, districts and other organisations and has been in existence since 1983. It was the first countryside management project to be established in the north Surrey area.

The Partnership has built up a large and enthusiastic volunteer group which carries out a wide range of practical conservation tasks to implement improvements to the local countryside, 3 days a week (Tues, Weds, Thurs), whatever the weather, throughout the year.

CoProCo - Your Community Projects Company

CoProCo is a new social enterprise run by Chris Massey, a local resident of Stamford Ward. The company aims to make a difference to local areas in the UK by harnessing the support of the community to identify, crowdfund and deliver projects that will make a positive difference to life in the local community.
