Enhancing the experience for everyone at Egerton Park CC by upgrading our pavilion with modern, state-of-the-art restroom facilities

by Egerton1882 in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, United Kingdom

Who are we?

We are Egerton Park Cricket Club, located in the heart of Melton Mowbray. Our club offers cricket for all ages and abilities through our Men's and Junior Cricket sections. In recent years, we've experienced significant growth across all areas, including our men's teams and junior sections. As we move into 2025 and beyond, we are excited to expand our women's involvement, aiming to create a more inclusive and thriving cricket community

Why are we crowdfunding?

We are fundraising for a new toilet block and to improve the patio area around the pavilion to realize our vision of providing outstanding facilities that enhance both member participation and the match day or event experience. Currently, our cricket pavilion has limited segregated toilet facilities, requiring men to pass through the home team dressing room during play, and offering only a single cubicle for female players and visitors. By extending the pavilion within its existing footprint, we have the opportunity to add a dedicated toilet block whilst also improving the patio area around the building, levelling/replacing old slabs, extending the area and allowing to grow the area for spectator and visitor use.

As you can see from the below pictures the current clubhouse men's toilets are accessed through the Home team players changing room which on match days is not convenient, safe and could cause some other risks if not managed correctly. To allow the club to thrive and match its community ambitions we need to upgrade the facilities to support this

Over recent years the pavilion has continued to be looked after and re-decorated (especially after the floods of 2023/24) with the efforts and continued support of club members but building work is required to develop further.

This funding would allow us to carry out key/essential building works to change the lay out of the pavilion and facilities.

The main clubhouse toilets which directly open to the social/function area which with the investment and pavilion upgrade would be remodelled.

How we’ll spend the money raised

All funds raised through this crowdfunding campaign will be dedicated to covering the costs of the new toilet block, including planning, design, and construction. The current patio area around the pavilion is in need of some TLC and the funding will allow us to lift, relay and extend its footprint in turn improving the spectator viewing area during games and for community events.

Our goal is to raise £15,000, which will be matched by the Sport England Movement Fund, only if we achieve this with your continued support.

Community impact

As the club continues to play a vital role within the community, it not only fosters competitive and enjoyable cricket games but also focuses on the development of junior participants and their personal growth. The club provides a safe and encouraging environment where they can thrive and learn essential life skills.

The facility also supports various events, offering a place for community members to gather, enjoy companionship, and engage in community activities. Enhancing the facilities aligns perfectly with these goals, ensuring a welcoming space for all.
