Building a safe haven for vulnerable animals

About our Crowdfunder

RSPCA Central London Branch currently operates two animal shelters - one more modern premises in Holloway and an older shelter in Enfield.  Our Enfield shelter is worn and dated and is in need of modernisation and expansion in order for us to continue to provide a high level of animal welfare across London. Given the work required, it is more cost effective for us to knock the building down and completely rebuild a modern state of the art shelter, rather than to continue to patch it up piecemeal.  A new building on freehold land will also ensure there is a safe haven for London's animals for many generations to come. 

How we'll use the money

We are always full to bursting - our branch takes in over 1,200 animals a year and we specialise in finding a safe and loving home for some of London's most abused and neglected cats.  At the moment, we have just 22 pens in Enfield, which can really only accommodate one cat or litter of kittens at a time.  Our plans are to increase capacity to 40 pens, many of which will be able to hold more than one cat. This will more than double our current capacity and will mean we can help with more multi-cat households.

The new pens will also have a modern air management system to help prevent the spread of disease between animals. 

The current veterinary room is very basic and is only suitable for check-ups and vaccinations. When we redevelop, we will be building a state of the art veterinary suite with a double dental suite.  Not only will this help us keep our veterinary bills lower than using private vets, but it will also prevent further stress on animals being transported multiple times for veterinary treatment. 

Of course our new shelter will have some space for our staff to take their breaks, but our renovation isn't about flashy receptions or meeting rooms, it's about being able to help more of London's most vulnerable animals. 

We need to raise £600,000 to secure this build, and this Crowdfunder is the first step in that fundraising. 

Our RSPCA Branch

RSPCA Central London Branch, covering some of the most disadvantaged areas of London, rescues and rehomes hundreds of sick, injured and abused animals every year.

Our Animal Welfare Officers go out into the community 365 days a year to help animals most at risk and in need. Our two shelters offer a safe place for our little patients to be given all the veterinary treatment, care and love they need to recuperate, and are always full to bursting. We specialise in finding a future for those animals who find it hardest to trust humans again.  

Our branch is a separate registered charity to the main RSPCA and we are responsible for raising all the funds we need for this project.  We need your help to achieve that goal so that we can build a safe haven for London's most vulnerable animals - we're grateful for anything that you can donate.  Thank you so much for your generosity. 

* Please note that we expect for our redevelopment build to take place within 24 months of this campaign and we will update supporters with our timeline. In the unlikely event that our redevelopment is not able to proceed (for example due to lack of overall funding, or refusal of planning permission) then any money donated to this campaign will be used by RSPCA Central London Branch for its animal welfare initiatives.
