To continue to develop and expand the home of our project, at our wonderful, idyllic, rural site in Tullygarley, South Ballymena, Co. Antrim
For some 10 years now, our small band of dedicated volunteers using our wonderful idyllic base, in Tullygarley, South Ballymena have been creating & developing the Scullery O'Tullagh Project, to a point where our footprint now encompasses 3 poly-tunnels, 2 greenhouses, over 35 raised beds, a 25 Mt square reception area, an orchard and a compostable toilet.
The principal purpose of our project is to address the 'health inequalities' prevalent in our local community today, (a community, still recognised in NISRA statistics as being one of high social deprivation) through the facilitation of a 'plot to plate' journey, that will empower our community not only to grow fresh fruit & vegetables, but also to be able to use the said vegetables, to cook healthy balanced nutritious meals, that all their families can enjoy.
Our site now welcomes hundreds of visitors per year, that was the reason why we constructed the reception area and our compostable toilet, we now wish to use this fundraising opportunity to install a renewable power source at our site which will provide lighting, power for propagation, power for our water harvesting operation and power for fridges to further enhance the experience that a visit to our scullery gives to all, irrespective of their age, gender, religion or ethnicity.
