Endometriosis South Coast
Charity No. 1186203

£709
Hi, I’m Jodie Hughes, the founder of Endometriosis South Coast, a researcher, and an advocate for those living with the life-altering condition of endometriosis. This year, I’ve been invited to present two pieces of my groundbreaking research at an international conference in Australia. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to share my work, connect with leading experts, and bring back vital knowledge to improve care and advocacy for those living with endometriosis.
But I need your help to get there.
Why This Trip Matters
Endometriosis is a full-body condition that affects 1 in 10 people assigned female at birth. It’s under-researched, misunderstood, and often dismissed. My research focuses on:
Whether being in the Uniformed services has an impact on an endometriosis patient's Health-Related Quality of LifeWhether gender affects an endometriosis patient's Health-Related Quality of Life
Presenting this research in Australia will:
- Amplify the voices of those living with endometriosis.
- Ensure global experts hear and consider the findings.
- Help improve policies, education, and care worldwide.
My Challenge: The Great South Run & Abseiling the Spinnaker Tower
To make this trip possible, I’m undertaking some massive challenges:
Running the Great South Run: Despite living with multiple chronic illnesses, I’m training to complete this 10-mile race. Every step will be a testament to resilience. I have started the training for this and you can follow along on my Instagram @jodie.hughes2 where you will see me sweaty messiness. I will be letting everyone know the good the bad and the ugly of running with multiple chronic illnesses, including endometriosis. Abseiling the Spinnaker Tower: With a crippling fear of heights, I’ll be taking on this 100-meter descent as a symbol of pushing boundaries—just like we’re doing in endometriosis research.
These challenges are more than just fundraising efforts; they’re deeply personal. They show that even when our bodies fight us, we can still push for change.
