On 12th January 2023 we successfully raised £5,165 ( + est. £1126.25 Gift Aid ) with 36 supporters in 42 days

Lewes District Emergency Food Network is made up of 10 community food projects which are tackling poverty across the District

Every donation we receive will be shared equally between our network members, supporting them to buy vital resources and put food on tables across Lewes District this Winter. Our network members are:

Fitzjohn's Food Bank

The Fitzjohn's Food Bank operates at Christ Church in Lewes and currently has 56 households on its register with around 45 served each week.

Havens Food Cooperative

Havens Food Cooperative is a project of the Havens Community Hub. It was established in April 2020 aiming to prevent food waste, give food insecure people better access and choices, and help the environment.

Landport Foodbank & Community Cafe

Landport Foodbank in Lewes is a project of Landport Residents’ Association and volunteers run a weekly foodbank.  Demand has increased significantly in recent weeks, particularly from working single mothers. Lanpdort Community Cafe offers great value food and drink with a relaxed social drop-in environment. 

Malling Foodbank

Malling Foodbank in Lewes is currently supporting 56 households (116 individuals) with food each week and has seen a 30% increase in referrals from single people and 14% increase in families in recent weeks.

Newhaven and Peacehaven Community Supermarkets 

Seahaven Community Food operate two ‘pay-as-you-feel’ community supermarkets and transform surplus food into nutritious meals. They host café sessions for social connection and direct people to support that can help tackle underlying causes of food insecurity.  They support an average of 146 households per week.

Newhaven Baptist Church Foodbank

Newhaven Baptist Church Foodbank runs two weekly foodbank sessions for local residents, as well as offering free hot showers and laundry facilities.

Seahaven Storehouse

Seahaven Storehouse is part of Seahaven Community Church and provide a choice of food items to individuals and families in need within the Seahaven area (Peacehaven, Newhaven and Seaford) including 10 refugee families from Ukraine.

Lewes District Food Partnership is housed by SCDA, which is based at Denton Island Community Centre in Newhaven. As a registered charity SCDA will receive all donations made and will then share them equally between the network organisations listed above.
