COVID-19 Business Update

Since the end of February I have not had any business coming in and now we are on lockdown which has meant I sadly cannot help and heal people with these amazing treatments, although it's a healing practice I must keep safe and ensure my clients are too. Unfortunately this has impacted on my earnings and due to being self employed part time for less than 1 year I am not eligible for any support.  Luckily I am able to do some work at home part time for the University but this is financially not deal long term. I am so passionate about my business and I believe it in, so its very hard to consider not doing this! This has meant I am having to be creative with my thinking and refocus my approach for the time being and a benefit of being at home means I can spend more time on the Aromatherapy side and create some beautiful and natural products which can be posted to those in need.  I have invested in myself and ordered more stock which should be here by Monday at the latest (I am very grateful for Amazon's quick delivery times!!) this means I can create some key products such as a natural hand cream, hand balm and a selection of bath salts for relaxation, anxiety and more. These will certainly help people in this global pandemic and my focus is to offer my products to those on the front line within the NHS! I am yet to purchase the containers, which I have spent hours researching, my issue is the delivery times as a lot of them are based in China and take nearly 2 months to arrive which seems a lifetime away at the moment. I have managed to source a variety of glass jars at a good price locally for some bath salts, again I have had to be creative with this due to there being a limit on the amount I can purchase at one time. I am lucky to have this option within my business to expand during this uncertain time and would be hugely grateful for some financial support to aid my progress and provide as much as I can to help people in need. 

We are all washing our hands a lot and using anti bacterial gels etc.. and im aware not everyone is moisturising afterwards and as such has very dry, sore, cracked skin. The ingrediants I will use such as oils, creams and butters as a combination have a huge variety of amazing  benefits to include key vitamins which deeply nourish and moisturise the skin and body! 

Unfortunately all the events I wanted to attend have now been postponed for up to 5/6 months and my therapeutic workshops have had to be cancelled which is such a shame and thus meant I am losing valuable income here too!

About Me.... and My Project

Hi my name is Katie Huey, I'm 35 and live in the seaside town of Bournemouth on the south coast of England, a stone's throw away from the 7 miles of beautiful sandy beach!

Since childhood I have been passionate about creativity and helping people, some of my earliest memories were spent colouring and drawing in the lounge, my mum would join me and I always remember her saying how therapeutic she found it! My mum also taught me how to cook, clean, sew and we even did some gardening, skills that became very useful later in life!  I loved learning all those years ago and today I still have that same hunger.  We only live once and what better than to experience as much as possible in our lifetimes!  

I went on to learn dance, art, fashion and since leaving education I've spent 15 years working as an administrator gaining valuable skills.  In my personal life I continued to express myself through various avenues and became a face painter and hula hooper, which I LOVE very much!  I have been on a long personal journey to improve my overall health and wellbeing.  I have suffered with periods of anxiety/depression, eczema a severe skin condition and also food intolerances and sensitivities.  All of my knowledge has come from my experiences in life, so I come from a place of knowing.  This has enabled me to listen, share and help other people which makes me happy and I find it very rewarding.  

I have always wanted my own business and I found it exceptionally hard with so many wonderful interests to choose from.  Two years ago I made the decision and enrolled onto a Swedish Massage Course which qualified me as a Therapist!  It's one of the best decision's I have made in life and I have enjoyed the journey so much.  

I have worked very hard juggling a full-time office job and part-time study but I did it and here I am today running my own business Enchanted Forest UK.  The name incorporates my vision and passion which is to create a beautiful, relaxing setting for people to enjoy and get healing from.  Being a nature lover and becoming more aware about product ingredients, it was important for me to switch to all natural products and to share this with people.  I am now proud to have my own treatment space at home and have completed a further 6 fantastic courses which I offer to my growing client base.   As well as being a Holistic Therapist, I am an Aromatherapist and host therapeutic/creative events for adults.  

Reaching my funding goal will allow me to continue on my mission of healing, help me to reach a wider community and grow my business!
