Our aim is to provide solar-powered radios for poor children in Kashare, Uganda, enabling remote learning during the COVID-19 crisis.
Can you pledge just £6 to help a child in rural Uganda to continue their education during the COVID-19 crisis?
We are Kanaama Interactive Community Support (KICS), a small volunteer-led charity devoted to providing educational and economic empowerment to improve the lives of the citizens of Kashare sub-county, a rural community in SW Uganda in which nearly 20% of inhabitants live below the extreme poverty line.
The recent COVID-19 crisis has hit Kashare particularly hard. Schools have closed, which is a tragedy for children who are already at a huge educational disadvantage compared to their peers. The government has started educational radio broadcasts for all ages, but many poorer households, who no longer have access to the markets at which they sell their crops, do not own or have the funds to purchase a radio.
Our relief efforts are in full sway, but we need your help to provide radios to the 50-100 households which the village has identified as most needy. Just £6 can cover the cost of a radio, and enable a child to continue their education in these challenging times.
Help us to make sure Kashare's children do not fall behind in their education as a result of COVID-19. Make your pledge now.
