Shilpa came to enjoy water-based activities when she was much older, partly as she had never learnt to swim as a child or had the opportunity to experience any water sports.
Her happy place is on or by the water especially when paddling - it is good exercise, it helps to clear the mind and nourishes the soul.
So, when we as a team connected with the Pirate Castle as part of SUP the Grand Union adventure, we were blown away by what they offer and how tirelessly they are working to help tackle disadvantage and support the most vulnerable members of the community.
They do this by providing canal-based activities from the iconic Pirate Castle in the heart of Camden Town on the Regents Canal in London. Since the pandemic hit, the charity has struggled to keep afloat and is in danger of sinking.
For this reason and because of the kindness and support they have shown to our adventure planning, we the adventure team think it would be amazing to try and help raise awareness of their awesomeness and fundraise for them as part of this adventure.
