Aim

We will address the disproportionate impact of the Covid-19 on the integration and adaptation process of recently arrived migrant women.

I am a local social entrepreneur and take part in multiple community projects alongside my other commitments including teaching, interpreting and consultancy.

As a father and being a migrant myself I know the challenges of recently arrived people in our neighbourhood and want to offer them a solution to improve their language skills, speed up their integration process and enable them to socialise through dedicated activities.

My crowdfunding page is dedicated to addressing the abovementioned challenges as well as the disproportionate impact of the Covid-19 crisis on the disadvantaged ethnic minorities.

The COVID-19 global pandemic is having an unprecedented impact on migrant communities, particularly on disadvantaged vulnerable parents.

Our frontline professionals and volunteers believe that migrants coming from a low socio-economic background are one of the groups most impacted, so through this project, we want to provide language learning and wellbeing support which will improve the resilience and integration process of the target beneficiaries during and post-pandemic.

Our programmes will provide academic, social, and emotional mentoring support on a weekly basis by connecting participants under the supervision of experienced teachers. The support offered is individually tailored to the participants' specific needs. The main aim is to recognise and then target low self-confidence and self-esteem,
manifesting in many different forms, and in developing confidence through motivation and skill-building.

At a practical level, we will provide weekly ESOL sessions for 60 migrant women over 6 months. Each course will be followed by conversation activities and group wellbeing sessions embedded in discussion, debate or sharing experiences.

Alongside the lessons and activities, we want to offer webinars and consultancy support for those with a language barrier so that we can enhance their knowledge about the UK and increase their chances of employment.
