Empowering Girls Through Sport - Court Development

Aim

To resurface our netball courts at Hayesfield Girls’ School, ensuring our facilities match our reputation for excellence.

Who are we?

We are the PE Department at Hayesfield Girls’ School in Bath. At Hayesfield, our mission is to provide an inspirational environment where every student is challenged to be the best they can be. We aim to provide a safe, high-quality environment where our students can achieve their ambitions, develop lifelong health habits, and compete at the highest levels, while providing a premier sporting hub for the wider Bath community.

Every week, hundreds of our students take part in Netball through lessons, inter-house competitions, clubs and team training. For many of our girls, netball is more than just a sport - it’s where they build confidence, resilience and sense of belonging that we champion across all areas of school life. 

We are proud to offer opportunities for all abilities. Some of our students are new to the game and play simply for enjoyment, while others compete at a high level. This year, two of our netball teams reached the national quarter-finals, and another team is heading to National Finals Day next month - a testament to the talent and dedication of our girls!

While we are immensely proud of these elite achievements, what matters most to us is the sheer number of girls who choose to get involved every single week. 

Why are we crowdfunding?

Our courts are the engine room of our PE department, used constantly for the curriculum, after-school clubs, and competitive fixtures. However, years of heavy use are taking their toll. To truly achieve our school’s ambition of providing world-class opportunities, our facilities must match the dedication of our students.

The current surface is deteriorating, which limits participation and puts our performance squads at a disadvantage. By resurfacing the courts and upgrading the posts, we will:

• Ensure Safety: Provide a high-quality, slip-resistant space for daily play.
• Support Growth: Meet the growing demand for our development and performance squads.
• Community Impact: Re-open the space for local girls’ clubs and community groups to access high-quality facilities in Bath.

If we raise £10,000, Sport England’s Movement Fund will match the amount, doubling the impact. Your support will make a real difference to the girls at Hayesfield Girls’ School, and the local community. 

How we’ll spend the money raised

The funds will go directly towards:

• Resurfacing the netball courts to create a safe, durable playing surface
• Installing netball posts 
• Adding line markings for PE lessons, club sessions, and competitive fixtures
• Every donation brings us closer to a safe, welcoming, and high-quality space for students and the local community to enjoy netball.

Community impact

Upgraded netball courts and posts will benefit both our students and the local community, including clubs and neighbouring schools. We can run more inter-house competitions, train development and performance squads, allow local clubs to use the facilities, and host tournaments, giving even more girls the chance to play during the week and compete in fixtures. This project meets high demand, boosts participation, develops skills, confidence, and teamwork.

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
